Clama – Merlot DOC Friuli Colli Orientali 2018

This Merlot comes from one of our oldest vineyards, on the amphitheatre of ‘Le Clama’. The vines have a very deep root system and are less subject to dryness and climatic adversity. The production is limited and is now reduced to a few bunches of grapes per vine, very concentrated and rich.

Grape variety: Merlot 100%

Winemaking: the grapes are harvested by hand when they are ripe and the pulp is no longer turgid; they are crushed and destemmed delicately and fermented in steel tanks for about 15 days until the end of the sugars and beyond. To extract the matter present in the skins are made two daily pumpings over for a sufficient time to complete the extraction of colour and tannin. The ageing takes place in part in steel tanks and in part in French barriques for at least 2 years before the final blend prior to the bottling. Here it ages for at least another year before release.

Vintage: 2018

Alcohol: 14% vol

Colour: deep crimson, with purple hints.

Bouquet: the complexity of the wine is already perceivable red fruits, hazelnuts, almonds and spices. A well-balanced and complex mix.
